What's your next audax?
« on: 28 March, 2008, 12:15:53 am »
My next is the Invicta 300.  My first 300 last year; hopefully it won't be quite so tough this time round - I know what to expect and I've grown to love the Boreham Street - Windmill Hill section.

Hills?  Call those hills?  :D

Mine is the Faccombe Haul 100k on 12th April. I'll be riding up to Faccombe from Denmead to make it close to 200k. I'll be riding it with LEE and chillmoister as usual.

I need to get some training in as I have my first ever 300k planned for 26th April. (Denmead 300k)

Probably Stevenage 200 on Sunday but not now 100%.  May decide the night before.  My partner in crime is poorly.

My *next* next one is the Stevenage Start of Summertime 62k on Sunday.  The next >100k should have been the Ruislip 300 but that's been cancelled, bah.  doop & I are hoping to ride it as a perm, if I can sort out controls, timing, etc.  The upside to this plan is that if I make the effort to go FAST, we might just be able to do it within tube running times.

DIY 200 on Sunday (more like a 250 - I think it's registered as 238km) from mine following some of the Midlander Grimpeur route up and down the Peak District (Axe Edge Moor, Cat and Fiddle, Snake Pass, Mam Tor, Millers Dale :D).  Then the Elenith next weekend.

Dorset Coast for me. I have to do something long-ish between now and then though.

We have two this coming weekend: Making Hay (from Cardiff) and the Carmarthenshire Snapper.  Both are 200s.  The plan is to tandem both, but Jasmine is still a little under the weather, so I will take my single bike in case Sunday looks like being too much...

I'm off to Scotland for a holiday next weekend, and hope to do a couple of long rides whilst up there, but can't be bothered to sort out DIY controls. Next Audax probably the excellent Castleton Classic from Shenstone on 20th April (if I get back from Scotland in time).

It looks like it'll be May or June before my next Audax (did manage the Fleche Oppy a fortnight ago though), possibly the Atkinson Meander 400.  You are all invited but it may take a while for you to ride to the start.

Harlequin Hack 100km on the 13th April.  I haven't done a proper ride since 23rd Feb and I'm planning on doing it fixed.  Should be, erm, fun! :)

I planned to do my own 300 at the orginal date, the 5th of april. Due to an injury I'll concentrate on running the event so I'll ride it on a later date, quite likely the 27th of april. Excellent opportunity to check if riding the route on the LBL pro date leads to clashes.

Up here in Scotlandland, the Hawick 100km this Sunday (maybe even on the good bike), then Moffat Toffee 200 in a couple weeks.

I'm planning a repeat of the route checking for the VoR 200, without Vorsprung this time (cos he's still crocked from last). Probably not for points. Then the Elenith; first time for years. Mr Pountney tells me the hills have got steeper.

Real LifeTM having got in the way, it's looking like my next will be either the Denmead 300K or Sheilla Simpson's Plains 300K on April 26th. A bit of a pain as my last long ride was March 1st, so I'll be doing my first 300K in approx 20 years after almost two months of nothing longer than 50K, and on a new, bigger frame that I'm still adjusting myself to.

It'll be interesting, anyway, but a fairly high risk strategy on month 10 of my RRTY (where my strategy to date has been to get one in as early in the month as possible to give time to recover in case of problems).
