I took myself of to Wales for a week, so before I left I cleaned, checked and oiled my wife's Brompton for her commute. Then left oil on the side with the instruction that if it was wet, simply apply a light coating, and leave to dry.
Now comes the Girlie bit......
Decide that on the way into work the chain feels "gritty" and the oil is at home, so you liberally apply:
Logical because it is "oily"... but a bugger to clean off the chain when you return.
