I thought that was the case, but wanted to be sure before I started cheering him on.

Well there may be another Kristof that does epic cycling stuff...

So how long until James takes on this record then?

He's obviously doing it unsupported, hence the luggage.
It's not an RRA record.  Anyone seen if he is doing it via Guinness, or another accreditation body (UMCA?)
I have to say his setup looks a bit suboptimal with no aerobars and pretty shallow rims.

that's a surprise - Kristoff used aerobars in the TCR and IPWR

I notice he seems to have a new bike sponsor, Curve rather than his usual Jaeger.

The lack of aerobars seems... unusual.

His position on his aerobars was pretty good, last time I saw him power past me on them on the way out of Fremantle!

Curve is Jesse Carlsson, the organiser of Indypac, 's bike brand. Sponsoring Kristof looks like their European market entry: they've got a UK retailer and one somewhere else in Europe.

Yeah, Jesse sponsors a few of the really good Ultra endurance riders, including Sarah Hammond.

Shame Kristof has no tracker on this ride. Would be interesting to follow him.

67h15 for LEJOG - bl00dy impressive, but will have to do a "negative split" for sub 5.5 days. Anything sub 6 would be amazing.

with the rain yesterday and headwind today, negative split looks unlikely. but great riding nevertheless!! (i'd like to do it one way in under 72hrs, also unsupported)

He is aiming for the last 700km without sleep tonight so let's see if he manages it.

Not sure what to make of his ride. I'm surprised he's not using tri bars as well and it doesn't seem to be an official record attempt, so maybe just doing it for his own reasons?
67h is impressive for an End to End but too slow even for an end to end and back considering it was with a tailwind. Even so, with a rider like Kristof, even if he isn't taking it especially seriously, I think it does show what a hard ride it is and how much harder it is without a support crew. I don't know for sure, but given most record organistations, I'd expect that the current record was done with a support crew.

A good wind and I can't see you having any problems with that

yes, it looks doable in favourable conditions. i want some leeway for using quieter roads if the main ones are too busy/dangerous.

Ben Rockett didn't accredit his ride through any record organisations, he just got his friends to take plentiful video and then challenged everyone to beat him.

Kristof has finished.  There's a photo posted on Instagram of him back at LE.  Cannot see what was his total time but from timestamps looks like just under 6 days.  Respect.
