After years of talking about it I have finally taken the plunge and bought a tandem

A Cannondale MT900 from friend in the Club, quite a few years old but in really good condition and with a lots of nearly new bits.

Ceramic rims, XT groupset, USE suspension seat post, Panaracer road tyres.

We did a short ride this afternoon to get it set right then tomorrow its the Club social ride to a local cafe.

Hopefully my wife will do more miles if she is only a foot behind me rather than a couple of hundred yards!

I think we will avoid the steep bits on the Mendips for a few months though. I am not sure if we can cope with starting on an uphill road just yet.

Hello! :D
The uphills are less of a problem than the downs, although we do walk some. The downs are quite scarey when you don't have access to the brakes. :-[

??? Don't understand the problem.  If I'm not using the brakes, I'm not sure why you would want to ??? ;) ;D

Welcome LeFlic.

Maffie and I found Sheldon Brown's advice on Tandeming quite useful, especially the second article listed on that page.

It's a lot of fun!
