and budget end
What would be really suitable would be a ms surface. But money . . .

It is for a present and I guess the budget is going to be under £300. There is a need to be able to playback video, probably from external drive. I'm trying to find out formats.

Not really sure what can be found if it this is going to be possible for the budget.

It but is specifically a tablet we are looking for and most Chromebooks I've seen don't seem to be very powerful, particularly when it comes to graphics.

 have one of these: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/asus-zenpad-z500m-9-7-tablet-32-gb-dark-grey-10147851-pdt.html.

32GB storage is loads, screen is gorgeous, and USB-miniUSB3 adaptors to plug in an external drive are cheap. I use it with an external bluetooth keyboard and a 3rd party app, but I understance case-jobbies are available too.

Amazon fire 10" hd!

The 16gb model is 169.99 with a keyboard for it at 59.99

the 32gb model is 209 quid also.

Mary has the 8gb one and we sideloaded the google apps (it's running fire, a port of android) and it's a lovely little device i'm giving thought to buying.

If you want a Windows tablet, this (or something on this page) might cover your needs?
