Nah, you're just a fake Basil.

Our intrepid cycling Basil hasn't been seen out in the wild for months now.

It was probably a grief stricken suicide.

We went for a recce of the Saturday planned food stop yesterday.   The fayre is acceptable and we hope that you will like it.   Unfortunately there is not a vegetarian specific menu option and our friend Martin opted for the cheese sandwich.

They have one menu option which we haven't tried but is tempting, it is called Afternoon Tea.   A stand comes with sandwiches and cakes and you also get a pot of tea*.   This option cost £10 per person and they have asked for it to be pre-ordered.   The benefit to this option is that they can cater for vegetarians when preparing this option.

We expect to arrive for lunch around 14:00 and we are tempted ourselves to go for the afternoon tea option.   Lunch is nearer to the end of the ride this time as we have a new route.   The first few miles are on familiar territory for Long Itch veterans but then we hit new roads.  At present I'm searching for a tea and pee stop which may necessitate another recce ride this coming Sunday.

* I spoke with the owner's father yesterday but will call the owner and discuss the exact makeup of an Afternoon Tea and report back.

If they're not particularly veggie-friendly then this may be a slightly optimistic question.... are they able to do vegan afternoon tea?

If not then I will either bring my own or invoke the Dick Principle.

Alas, I'm out - F-i-L's health is such that my OH is planning on going to visit and leaving me with childcare duties.

I have a plan to cycle there starting on Wednesday. This may not happen. My attendance is still in the balance.

I'd love to, but getting there would be a pain - I can't take the cargo bike on trains, and it's a bit far to cycle...

It looks as though I'm in again! I have rail tickets, but have an inclination to make it a mini-tour, leaving on Wednesday and covering about 45-50 miles a day to get there Friday, camping at Ware and Milton Keynes. Must get the train back though, as I am on granddad duty on the Sunday evening.

My decision will be based upon weather forecasts and how upfrit I feel at the time.

I'm hoping to be there, but I'll be in the car.
My back wheel needed to be sent off to Germany to get the Rohloff serviced.
I should get it back sometime next week, but I'm to unfit to cycle over.

Room for a small one? Plan is to drive to work at Peatboghorror on Friday and cycle from there if fitness allows, otherwise car all the way.

Friday and Saturday nights camping please PB, and a seat at the paella table please Torslanda.

Excellent.  You are most welcome.

Will you be wanting to come and see Kajsa as well?

If not then I will either bring my own or invoke the Dick Principle.

So, they are veggie friendly with a number of options.   Vegan is more difficult.   I would suggest that I should give you their telephone number and you could speak with Ben about vegan catering.

Afternoon Teas are served after 14:30 so I think that we'll either be too early or we could simply take our time getting there.   As previously stated, Afternoon Tea is £10 a head.   Is anybody interested in Afternoon tea at all or should be just go a la carte?

That sounds sensible. Although C is being sent somewhere exotic for work Wednesday - Friday, so our options are
a) arrive late Friday with a fried Charlotte but ride on Saturday
b) arrive mid Saturday morning and lounge around the campsite until beer o'clock

We are tending towards option b which would resolve the lunch issue in any event!
