« on: 07 May, 2017, 07:31:51 pm »
The Friday Night Ride to the Coast rolls off to Shoreham again, with a different route and halfway stop from last year, but the same iconic destination at the airport and their fantastic breakfast.

Anyone missing Brighton amongst our rides this year will be pleased to note this ride includes Turners Hill!

Full details, including a link to the sign-up form, can be found on the Shoreham ride page on the website: http://fridaynightridetothecoast.blogspot.co.uk/p/june-2-london-south-bank-to-shoreham.html

Sooooooo tempted (not least cause it finishes a short space from home).  But really not sure I am fit enough...
Getting there...

It'll be good to see you again if you're able to.  I assume a moving average of around 12 mph.

Alternatively, there'll be Felpham on 1st September.

Hmmm. That is the day of my final exam for the second of three OU modules I'm doing this year. So I'll be wanting an evening off.

Tempted, very tempted.

Tempting as it is probably a more manageable distance for me at present.

Just look on it as 2 rides of 30 miles each.  Gatwick Airport, which has trains running all night, is about 2½ miles away from the halfway stop in case anyone has got too worn out by then.

60 riders signed up so far.

70 riders currently signed up, including 19 first timers.  And it's not even a full moon.

They must have heard about the excellent breakfast we get at Shoreham Airport.

I'm in too, the part that's making me most nervous is getting from Victoria to the BFI, I have a notorious ability to get lost in London!

If you're coming up from W Sussex, it might be worth changing at Clapham Junction for a train to Waterloo.  A bunch of reprobates tend to gather by the exit by Costa Coffee roughly opposite platform 12. Alternatively I think some are meeting under the Weatherspoons balcony near platform 12 at Victoria at around 2300.

Thanks Tim, I'm on the 9:28 from Brighton or the 9:48 if I miss my connection so may try the Weatherspoons option.

Tim, Are you joining us this evening or are you overseeing ceremonies at the half-way stop ?

Sorry, can't make it. Quite a bit of Real Life to deal with at the moment.  Have a good ride.

That was indeed an excellent breakfast and we really struck lucky with the weather. Thanks to all concerned for organising the ride.
