Infinity saddles

When we were at Long Itch last month, Kajsa Tylen gave a most informative talk and answered questions about her Year in the Saddle. This included the remarkable statement that, late in the year, after some considerable difficulty with soreness from her conventional saddle, she changed it for an Infinity saddle. Kajsa was most enthusiastic about the beneficial effects of the saddle change.

I have been thinking of getting one for Mrs. Wow but have just realised the price tag. I wondered if anyone else had taken the plunge. It's an awful lot of money for something that may not work.

Having sat on Kajsa's I'm not sure the, erm, benefits are particularly conducive to riding a bike.   :o

As ever, it's a matter of YMMV - it clearly works for Kajsa.    It's pretty easy to dismiss a saddle that's obviously going to be terrible by simply sitting on it.  I'd suggest Mrs Wow tries that in the first instance, but it seems there's just the one stockist...

There's a mention at the bottom of that page of hiring a saddle from them, which might be a lower-risk way of giving it a proper try.

Alternatively, you could always order one, and if it's clearly unsuitable at first glance/sit, send it back under whatever the Distance Selling Regulations are called these days.

I think in this case it is the Long Distance selling regulations.
It is simpler than it looks.

There rather expensive and look it a bit odd.  Do any of your local bike shops offer a trial saddle.  Some of the more mainstream manufactures offer either money back if you don't like it or trial saddles that you can try for a week or so,  I have done both it the past, a fizik saddle I took back and bought better shorts instead and a specialised saddle that I swapped for a brooks

I phoned the company to enquire about rental. £50 for a week!

Well, more exactly, you pay for the saddle and if you don't want to keep it you get it back to them within a week and they refund all but £50 of your money. They are the judge of whether it has come back in the same condition that they sent it in.

Bollocks, say I.

That's a bit crap. AIUI, the Brooks model (at least for Cambiums) is that you pay upfront for the saddle, and get given one that's marked SAMPLE in large, unfriendly letters.

Once you've made up your mind, you return it to the dealer, who exchanges it for either a brand new one, or your cash.

Given that Infinity saddles don't seem to be in any actual shops, I'd be inclined to go down the order and cancel route, which gives you a fortnight to decide, and all your money back. (Consumer Contract Regulations 2013, I think. They have to refund postage too, unless they've told you in advance that they won't.)

On their homepage they spelled 'pedal' as 'peddle'. Poor!
