Buses in Mordor
« on: 10 November, 2017, 02:17:28 pm »
I need to get from Moor Street Station to Church Road B15 by bus tomorrow lunch time.

What bus/busses should I be aiming for?  Tried to get a website to work for this, but to no avail!

Citymapper covers Birmingham, and is far better than the official rubbish:

https://citymapper.com/birmingham?lang=en&set_region=uk-birmingham

It suggests that a 98 or X64 from Moor Street heading towards the QE hospital is a good bet, which sounds sane to me.

(Disclaimer: I own a bicycle, so my bus use is negligible.  Barakta is the resident expert, but she's currently north of the border.)

What sort of payment do they use/accept now?

They gave no change when I used them 30 years ago.

Do they still accept cash?
Do they take contactless?
Can/how do you get tickets in advance?

 ;) ;D

You really DON'T want to be stranded with luggage, unable to board your bus because of ticket trouble...

City mapper sounds like it's talking sense and will give directions for walking once off bus.

Single fare is £2.40. Daysaver is. £4 pounds something, you can Google prices. No change is given. I think the buses take contactless but I'm not sure how that works in practice cos I've never done it.

So Martin needs to hang on to small change and keep it accessible for the trip...

Thanks Basil!

Some take e-tickets, AND contactless

Others take a card AND contactless

Unfortunately both at the same time.... so you pay twice
