Pub meet up in Stroud or Dursley?
« on: 31 March, 2015, 02:22:22 pm »
I'm in Gloucestershire next week and wonder if any Denizens of Stroud, Nailsworth or Dursley would like to get together for a drink, perhaps on Wednesday evening?

My knowledge of pubs in the area is well out of date. I know the Old Spot in Dursley used to serve a good pint, but I would be quite happy for other suggestions from those with local knowledge.

I would but alas I'm in Brum during the week (though I'm around Monday night next week).

May I recommend to the panel though the brewery on Friday and Saturday nights, the beer's good and the pizza is excellent. Failing that the ale house in Stroud has good food and fine beer (no larger or crap cider).

I'm quite happy to do Monday. I had thought people may be travelling back from long weekends elsewhere.

We are off to a country show on Monday but will be around in the evening and Brompton Assisted. The ale house in Stroud would be a vote for me but only because the beer is nicer than weatherspoons.

We have a plan!

Ale House in Stroud, Monday evening from 20:00.

Assuming I can make the Marin road worthy on Saturday, I'll ride over for BEER, otherwise car and coke.

Lucky I saw this thread... I'd love to come along if I can.
Bank Holiday Monday, 8pm yes? The Alehouse is excellent.

The Woolpack in Slad (near Stroud) is a popular pub with Cheltenham cyclists.

I remember as a young Cheltenham cyclist being politely asked not to sit in Mr Lee's chair.

We are currently sat at the bottom of chalford hill awaiting the presence of that RAC.

This might not bode well for our attendence.

First time I've been to a pub where the pump to patron ratio was two to one. :)

It was rather fun!

A beer or two

After a beer or two

The other person in the pub (yes, that is Tabasco Sauce and beer)

It's not just cyclists that go to pubs here, we'll have you know.

Meanwhile in Chalford (after a 4 hour wait)

Yep that's the orange flashing comfort of an RAC patrol, starter motor had melted it'self and shorted out the electrics.

I find myself in Gloucestershire again. Anyone like to check if the old guy is still putting Tabasco sauce in his beer?

I can do any evening apart from Wednesday. I guess you would prefer the weekend, which is fine with me.
