Well I have a 4 inch scar on the palm of my hand given me by a rescue cat about 10 years ago.  Scarred for life!

He'd had a hard upbringing, not being fed properly and treated like a toy, and would be good as gold for a while and then suddenly he'd get the claws out.  He'd also take a finger in between his jaws but fortunately never bit.  After we had him for a year or so he calmed down totally but hated being left alone in the house for more than a day.  There'd be no damage until we got back and then he would get onto shelves right in front of us and knock stuff onto the floor.  A highly intelligent cat, he was.
