[HAMR] Jan 20th
« on: 19 January, 2015, 10:54:02 pm »
Yes the Jan 20th thread starts here.

I've just got back from the supermarket with the food for Steve's visit. I had to request a wheelbarrow to cart it all to my car.

I predict he will neither go hungry nor lack menu choice at Wobbly Towers  :)

I hope it won't slow him down too much on the 21st mind...

Where (roughly) is Wobbly Towers?

I enjoyed the weekend, when he was on roads I know, so it'd be handy to know where he's aiming at.

And well done, Wobbly. Not to fret, you'll be reet.

Wobbly Towers is in Worcester. Except for when the Severn floods, then it sometimes ends up down stream.

Check calendar on web site - to give a clue on locations - but Steve can always change plans -- hosts are warned of this possibility

This is true, but I spoke to Mike W this evening and Steve's still planning on going West and the weather's unlikely to change dramatically overnight.

But, if Steve does change his mind, c'est la vie. All it means if I have two stone of pork sausage to dispose of.

We have ignition,  after an 11h 50' rest TG is back in the saddle.

How many people are watching the tracker, waiting to wave the metaphorical flag.  The TG Record Attempt is like the hour - catches the imagination.

Work in Droitwich so will be keeping an eye on the tracker to see if I can catch him and shout some words of encouragement if he passes near

Steve's very likely to be approaching Droitwich from the Tewkesbury end rather than Droitwich. At least that's the GPS track that I supplied The Team.

Well he's a braver man than I, approaching Aylesbury down the A413 in the morning rush hour. Or indeed at any time of day!

Did leave Aylesbury on the A41, but has turned round and is heading back in to town. Food/warming up stop?

Snow is predicted for Wednesday, especially in the west. Bit boring as it might be for him, I'd like to see him stay more local for the next day or two, rather than have a problematic journey back from there tomorrow. The weekend's looking a bit warmer to venture out further again.

Stay safe Steve. Well taters out there.

Good call - its not worth the risk - even if he looses a few miles.

Looks like an accident in Waddesdon - he appears to have tried again and again turned back towards Aylesbury.

Edit - broken down tanker.

I suppose with this record doing repeats of the same bit of road don't hurt as much as they would on something like RAAM or an Audax.

The tracking website is blocked by my work firewall now so I guess I'll have to do some work instead :(

23F on the tracker.  Looks like the Chiltern frost hollow is alive and kicking today. Can't imagine how he manages such cold day in day out.  But that's Teethgrinder.

I was in that area once, during my meteoric Audax career, on the Willie Warmer. Some poor bloke was airlifted to hospital in an area of black ice.

Good lord.
For the first (and probably last) time this year, I was on the road before Steve!

The route he’s on now is one I’ve ridden when riding from London to parts of the Midlands – I’m wondering if he will go the same way as me for the rest of the way to Worcester, i.e. Bloxham, Shipston-on-Stour, Evesham and then Pershore?

Just had a look and prefer it to the main tracker page.
