Good stuff. Forecast is for strong winds from about22:00.
Tomorrow looks ghastly.

I was just thinking that... don't fancy it in these winds myself! :o

Edit: actually I'm a bit concerned :-/

Edit again: hopefully just heading for the services?

He's not going to cross the bridge, is he?

Not much point in that annoying hill if he's not, surely?

Psychlepath's on the east side of the bridge, IIRC, so somewhat sheltered.

"Somewhat sheltered" is relative.

4am start, 128 Ivan-miles in 13h. Is he hoping for a big tail wind ride home?

Edit: Phew, looks like a hotel stop... heading for the bridge in current weather didn't sound good at all...

Considering the start time this morning, I guess he is ready for a break.

And he may not have his passport for travel to another land ;D

I went Steve stalking ;D  A stop at Membury for the 417/M4 decision, another check just off the M4 at the Chippenham exit then on one more junction to the Bath exit and double back to Acton Turville (where I lived for a while coincidently) but I'd missed him.  West through Sodding Chippery to Yate where I almost caught him:

By the time I got through the traffic he was long gone.  By the time I'd found somewhere to stop & fire up the tracker, go the wrong way, stop again etc he was long long gone.  I got back on the trail at Iron Acton then the signal was a bit crap and I lost time working out which way.  Once I saw a trackpoint West of the Gloucester road I knew where he had to be heading.  Just after Olveston:

So I carried on and stopped a couple of hundred yards short of the M48 junction and applauded and shouted a hearty Go Steve! as he approached.  I was a tad surprised when he slowed and stopped.  Even more surprised when with a leftpondian accent asked if I was OK?  Was my car stuck?

An incoherent apology later the poor sod continued his journey no doubt wondering WTF that was all about.  Sorry again.

So how the hell had I been hot on Steve's heels, found a cyclist in red at about the right spot yet it wasn't him?  Steve had bypassed Olveston, I went through the middle.
So I sat and waited a few more minutes and cheered on the right cyclist though I confess nervously and less gusto.

I passed him just before the junction but there's little to see.  After the bridge I stopped by the gap in the hedge to see if I could get a photo under the street lights but that wasn't to be.

Maybe next time.

Must have been Kurt. He'd have towed it out.

Just made the A417 on a 200 perm ride and TG (Steven Abraham)came towards me, battling into wind between Fairford and Poulton (yes really) at 12:15. I shouted encouragement and recognition but he certainly looked the worse for wear? Just checked his Track and see he seems to have stopped at Aust by the Severn Bridge; rather than turn to enjoy the strong tailwind. I returned home to Cheltenham into a strong SWerly around 9pm, but the tail wind earlier was really nice. At least I am not riding out on Sat! Something to do with Storm Desmond.
