I am often asked, what does YOAV stand for? It stands for Yoav On A Velo

Provisional dates have been announced:

I may clash with my proposed Camino but I'll see if I can work round it.

Great fun...  you get to meet up with all the weirdos who post on here.

Ain't that the truth, I saw some of the stalwarts back in mumbly whenever and I was scared (or is that scarred?)  ;D

I am going to need to book a car pitch for this as a small tent and cycle camping is now out of the question. With my PMR and aftereffects of covid I have difficulty in getting up and down from the ground and getting into a low tent.

Do we still mark YACF on the car camping booking?

It's like a YACF camping weekend, but much bigger and with a few stands and organised rides and things.

If you're expecting a massive trade show with bargains to be had, you'll be disappointed.

If you're expecting a social event with like-minded people, it's great.

Mainly a social event nowadays, also includes:

- saddlebag sale with a mixture of useful / obscure components, clothing, books etc
- auction, always interesting to see the auctioneer trying to get money out of a bunch of cyclists
- trade stands
- displays from some non-standard suppliers, groups and clubs usually including veteran cycle club, BHPC, ICE trikes
- grass track racing and possibly some cyclo cross if the local club can be persuaded to take part
- catering and a bar (if it's the same as last year, some very tasty locally brewed beer)
- quiz
- music
- organised bike rides

Cheers mate. I had a look at the site and it was like pulling teeth trying to find info. Are you heading down this year? Thinking about having a ride down.

One of my favourite memories is still the night ride organised by Crinkly a few some years back. The reactions of somewhat inebriated late night party goers trying to insert their latch keys, to a brightly lit peleton zooming past will never fade.

Dale - I'm one of the 'new' volunteers, so I'll be there helping with setup etc from Wednesday.  It is a nice ride down, let me know if you'd  like a gpx of my route from previous years.

Yes indeed. It brings it home to you that, firstly, we are getting old, and secondly, for well over 20% of my life, this forum, and its immediate predecessor, have provided a large chunk of my socialising and sheer good fun in that time.

Hmmm, if I'm not out of the country then, I'd be keen to cycle down to it from Edinburgh camping on the way.

Not sure about this. 2022 was my first attendance and based on that, it's a great excuse for a ten-day or so tour and a good occasion to meet people. But the show itself is nothing much and judged as a campsite, it's a bit crap. But then it is, what, £6 a night? So on that basis, could use it as cheap occasion to have a look round York (again).

BFC and I are going with the campervan - all booked in.
Pondering doing a 200 while we are up there, most likely on the Saturday because opening hours.  But wondering if there are any planned or historic and reusable (like a perm) audaxes from the rally?

What's the odds I can just rock up, pay my money and pitch a tent? Or at least book a camping spot a couple of nights before? Not sure if I can make it but would like to.
