Proposed updates to AUK points system
« on: 01 April, 2008, 10:36:30 am »
In a bid to attract more family people to AUK events and actually give people who have a life outside of cycling a chance of finishing in the top 10 of the point championship we are considering making a proposal to the way points are allocated. I just wanted to float it here first to gauge reaction.

The proposal is to award double points for riders who are parents. Furthermore if a child rides with their parent, their points will be doubled too. There is not age limit to the 'child' to be eligible for the doubling of the points. Three generations of the same family will see each riders points tripled.

That suggestion is, IMHO, blatant Parentism.

I think extra points should be awarded to anyone who rides a bike heavier than 10KGS just to give them a sporting chance, or anyone with a Rohloff hub ?? ( Cant think who that might apply to  ;))

I know many cycling parents who would vote for this at the AGM.
