On the commute tonight. :(
We managed to evade a driver who, having driven the wrong way down a one-way stretch of road, certainly wasn't going to give way at the end of it  and became peculiarly angry with us ??? and had quite a pleasant ride home. Lots of bikes were out, including one mobile Christmas tree (on further inspection the lights were concealing a 'bent and rider).
Then I turned into our road, my front wheel shot out from underneath me, and I lay there in a tangle of ripped bib tights and lot of pain. :'( Special mention at this point should go to the pedestrian who simply continued walking straight past whilst I tried to crawl away from the junction. ::-)
And of course, the law of sod dictates that they were my lovely new fleecy tights that had only been worn once before. ::-)

Ouch!
Tell Tim to get the needle and thread out!
-
Ach
At least it was only your pride and your fleecy tights. Take care and mend.
Was it oil, or just slushiness ?
-
Nothing broken, I hope? Or too many wounds with blood?
GWS!
-
Ouch :(
GWS kisses :-*
-
Addendum - should have said: apart from some knocked shifters the bike seems OK, but she will be properly inspected tomorrow. :-[

It was also a fair chunk of my knee too! Have just been digging chunks of road out of it. ;D

Not sure. I suspect it was greasy salt-covered roads not combining well with my slicks.
-
GWS :) (FWIW my nice new and also unscathed fleecy tights were refashioned with scissors by the ambulance crew)
-
There's a lot of sand and stuff round here at the moment. It seems that quite a lot of sand has been used on pavements and now the snow & ice has gone, people have kindly swept it into the road.

Ah, sorry. Nasty.
Mrs MV reckons I have the knees of a 10 year old - permanently cut and grazed :)

Seems likely. We've had mega rain here so the roads are clean and dry (apart from the mudslides and detritus on the lanes). I guess for those further East they're still cruddy.

I am stunned there were 4 replies and not one enquired after your bike :o :-*

BLOODY CAT TRYING TO SIT ON MY BLOODY KNEE! :o

Have a Dirty Uncle Greg kiss... :-*
That'll make it all better! ;D

GWS! Hope the bike passes its Professional Inspection.

Ooh poor you :(. Hope it's all better soon. Time for a nother pair of new tights then, slightly dearer ones...

Luckily my Bloody Cat has visited the vet more often recently than I have (or the hospital in my case, the vet doesn't deal with humans). Talisker has probably been interjecting the opposite, although less coherently to those of us who don't understand the exact meaning of "Meow".
Glad to hear that the injuries aren't terminal to either you or the bike. The roads are pretty crappy at the moment, with a mixture of the detritus left over from snow and rain, and a fresh crop of potholes. On the other hand, London is a lot clearer than Essex and Suffolk were at the weekend (ie there isn't two inches of mud on the road!)
-
Hope you're OK Kathy, and the knee mends soon.
Now that the snow's all melted, you can see just how bad condition the roads are in. The kerbs are full of grit and rubbish, whilst there are potholes everywhere. :-\

Oh well. Chicks love.... Oh hang on. Sorry.

GWS from me too K.
I had a little rear wheel slip on the way home while coming off a roundabout into a tight left hander.
Certainly wakes one up :o

You know how frivolous comments such as this will ensure I will be bumped tomorrow*.
So far locally we've had Domestique, Fatbloke, and they say trouble comes in threes.
* Actually I got bumped tonight, I forgot about that. Side road on the right, car turning right out of it (so going in my direction) ignored my two front lights and hi-viz and pulled out into my path. I didn't unclip but there was quite a loud BANG as the back passenger door contacted my foot. It's a shame that I was on fixed as it meant a few pedal revolutions of scuffs followed the impact. But never mind, the muppet driver decided not to stop and exchange details, so if there was any damage he's definitely got to pay for it, instead of chasing my insurers who'll put him back in his box ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Note how they gritted the roads, sanded the pavements, and forgot about the cycle farcilities. Southend, the town claiming funding to be a cycling town. ::-) ::-) ::-) ::-) ::-) ::-) ::-)

Very ouch!
GWS.

Ouch! X% of accidents happen within Y meters of home and all that.... what a pain!
But a timely reminder for Things to take care when venturing Out Of The City and onto Proper Roads this coming weekend...
GWS! Hope the bike passes its Professional Inspection.
+1, and likewise: hope the Kathy passes its Professional Inspection ;D

Thanks Kathy. :-*
Thrift is the new rage.

To alleviate some fears:
Having straightened the shifters and the brakes the damage would appear to amount to a scuffed QR skewer.
However if you poke Kathy's left knee you must be capable of outrunning her. But that's OK as her leg is stiff so she can't run after you.
-
It takes a braver man than I to test these parameters... ;D
-
I'm a bit like a Daalek at the moment - I don't do stairs. ;D
-
Has the 'popping the ferrets down the trousers' been put on hold for the time being?
-
I was going to ask if the roads would be rideable in the Surrey Hills this weekend, maybe I’ll give it another couple of weeks.
GWS Kathy.

No problems going through Headley and that patch of the Surrey Downs, and I've got really crappy tyres for grip on the SMGT on which I rounded the corner with no ill effects shortly before Kathy.
The country lanes are probably better as they'll have not been treated and so haven't got as much grot all over them as the suburban street which Kathy inspected more closely last night.

... However, there are lots of huuuuge potholes everywhere.
