My usual modus operandi is to
- create a track in Tracklogs
- "Save as Route" to my GPS (a Legend Cx) including trackpoints, but not waypoints
- before setting off, go to Routes menu, select required route and Navigate
Until yesterday, this always gave me a compass arrow to follow - my preferred way of using the GPS, given my indifferent vision. Yesterday, there was a compass screen, but no compass arrow!
Nor did anything appear in the "distance to next" and ETA at Destination" panels which share the compass arrow screen.
The map screen was working, so for the first time I used that instead, and with a bit of squinting got round the ride OK; but I would dearly like to know how to get my compass arrow back.
When we got home, I loaded a route, starting from home, which I know to have shown a compass arrow before - no arrow now. I don't think the Tracklogs routes are faulty. Although I suppose it is possible that the way in which Tracklogs transferred them to the GPS might conceivably be to blame, all the information required to navigate via the mapping screen is there...
Another oddity is that resetting the trip computer data now fails to clear the Max. Speed, although the other fields displayed
are zeroised.
And the GPS seems sluggish on initial switch on - it always used to give its little electronic burble immediately, but now it waits for several seconds before doing so.
Have I unwittingly changed some setting or other? That doesn't seem likely - I always use the device in the same way. Or is there something more serious amiss?
