I heard on a podcast that England are the 43rd country beaten by an Afghan cricket team with Mohamed Nabi in it. That's the ICC definition of country so includes the likes of Jersey and Guernsey.

A few years ago I watched a TV program which followed the Afghan team on their first steps in international cricket. It starts in 2008 with practice on a bit of waste ground in Kabul (and a dismissive comment from a chap from the British Embassy), then to a tournament in Jersey. I wondered if Nabi had been around then, so I had a look and yes, it's on youtube.  https://youtu.be/4H23kHiE_KQ?si=uWIQj6FZlMGP89fY

In Jersey they follow certain specific players - showing culture shock as much as cricket. Nabi is not one who is featured, but he was there - here is a screengrab of him after the win against Japan

and overcome at the prospect of meeting Geoff Boycott after the game against Jersey

He (and they) have come a long way since then.

Apologies for the hijack, but this would generate a chant for my local (footer) team.

#They're eating our grass, they're eating our grass, those vegan bastards, they're eating our grass"

(Apologies for nearly correct punctuation. I'm not primarily a football follower)

Gulbadin Naib does feature in the 2008 documentary (called Out of the Ashes by the way) - he's the bodybuilder. He's in the current squad but I don't think he's played yet.

Timed Out.

That's rare, and poor sportsmanship, I think...

Yes.  I honestly don't think the umpire had much choice as the Bengali skipper made the appeal; it wasn't the umpire who drew it to his attention.  I think it unlikely that Shakib Al Hasan will play in Sri Lanka again.

Is there an action replay?

The perfect over?

Judging by the description of the wickets, I suspect some less that perfect batting.  However, still quite an achievement.

Yes, I saw that earlier - amazing.  Apparently 5 wickets has happened 3 times in First Class cricket, too.  One might have been 6, except that there was nobody left to bowl at!

I seem to remember Alan Ward of Derbyshire taking 5 wickets in an over once.

A google comes up with nothing so I might be imagining this.

Doesn't look like the England Women will beat India in the one-off test match...

The village team I played for went from 162-1 to 164-7 requiring 166 to win.  We did get across the line.  But the next year we lost in a match where all 4 results were possible on the last ball - 9 wickets down, 1 ball left, 2 runs to win.

The openers for West Indies in the T20 decider against England are King and Charles.  The press headlines will write themselves if Windies win.  But you saw it here first!

Remarkable goings-on in Cape Town. 20 wickets down by tea-time on the first day. SA all out for  55. India lost their last 6 wickets without scoring (153-4 to 153 all out - W.W.W..W.WW). SA batting.

Shortest decisive test ever and no penalties for the pitch.  If spinners had done a similar amount of damage Newlands would have been an ex-Test venue.

True, I would back Ravindra Jadeja over Keshav Maharaj.  Although as neither spinner (433 test wickets between them) got to bowl an over, its a bit of a moot point.

First Test in India - decent comeback today, still doomed to lose. Probably.

Yes, it's looking a lot less like a walkover, thank goodness.  Mind you, I don't know what possessed Duckett to say that England were in a good position at the end of the first day!  That's one to haunt him for life I should think, though I'm not sure of his attention span.

And the above post will haunt ME for the rest of my life!  Whatever the result (and it's all to play for as I write) it's humble pie central here.  What a match!

If it's any consolation you are certainly not alone! Practically every pundit, journo and bookie had written them off after day 1.

That's little comfort, Toontra!  Though a victory will comfort.  Who wants to be grouped with the people you just mentioned!  After all, I'm not getting paid!
