I only knew about tony bullimore in connection with his infamous yacht racing disaster (in which he was a bit of a prat, entering an unsuitable boat and sailing beyond his abilities).

I had no idea of his other activities and it is enlightening to read of this other side of him. Reading that, he comes across as a very nice man and a sad loss to the world.

Same as Mr. C. here. Sounds like a good bloke.

I knew nothing of his back-story.

Sounds like a top bloke.  That's the best you can hope to be in my book.
Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.

I had no idea he was connected with the Bamboo Club, despite the photo below. In fact, when I saw the news of his death, the name rang a bell but I had no idea why. Oh well.

I went to the Bamboo Club several times when living in Montpellier in the 70's but sadly didn't see any of the acts listed on the plaque.  In fact I thought it was just a nightclub and not a venue. I vividly remember the sadness when it burnt down.

An unsuitable boat with a bodged keel IIRC.

Still, top bloke. A sad loss.
