What are you using as a pillow?
a real pillow?
an inflatable one?
clothes stuffed into a pannier or stuff-sac?

Currently an Ajungilak inflatable pillow.  It's light & comfortable but the air valve is pretty poor.  I'm contemplating switching to one of the Exped models.

A cheap (£1.49) inflatable pillow from Tesco.

Absolutely excellent

I don't like inflatable ones, they go rock hard when you put your head on them. I have a wee one from Tiso - or maybe Blacks? I remember one is better than the other, and not which one I have - that's helpful, i know....

But yes - I prefer a wee squashy one to a blow up pillow. I've used the stuff sack full of clothes but when you're cycle touring your clothes can be a bit too smelly to want them next to your head!!

Cheap inflatable pillow from Decathlon, about 50% inflated, *under* the head end of the sleeping bag for my head.

Stuff sack full of clothes (out of smell range) to elevate my knee when needed.

I've yet to experiment with the Ortlieb 4 litre water carrier as a pillow, drying it off seems like faff.

I find my head rolls off an inflatable one.  An inflatable one with a jumper or towel over it is better.  I also have a "micro-pillow" and can't work out whether it's crap or not.

Clothes into a stuff sack, wrapped in a fleece if it's dry. I use a stuff sack that came with a sleeping bag.

I used to use an Ortlieb pannier, but it got progessively more dirty as time progressed. The hooks and buckles didn't always make for a comfy night, either.

Like andrewc, I'm currently using a Ajungilak one.  The valve isn't brilliant, but if you shove it back inside and zip it up, that seems to stop it popping open.

I find it reasonably comfortable, and it has a nice fluffy finish.  When I've used stuff sacs with clothes in, in the past, they tended to be too shiny, and I find my head has a tendency to slip off, or the stuff sac slides out from under me, iyswim.
Actually, it is rocket science.

We have ajungilak ones. Clarion also has a thermarest bag with a fleece in and I have a cheapie coleman roll up one (£3.49 I think!). We haven't had any problems with the ajungilak valves and they are a lot better than most inflatable ones- not too hard or rounded. I'm thiking of getting an extra one for when my knee overhangs.

I use a sheet bag with an attached pillowcase, and always used to stuff clothes into that. These days I use a cheap inflatable pillow, and it's fine.

I'm getting soft in my old age.

My sleeping bag has a pocket at the head end for stuffing my jumper in.

My airbed has a pillow built in, if I need extra height I just use my fleece coat.

I use the rocks from round the camp fire. Pre warmed y'see, and no need to carry them when touring.

Or something. I can't imagine taking a pillow camping. Next you'll be telling me you take chairs.

Like all good cycle-camping accessories it'a dual purpose device.
3 purposes if you are daft enough to use it as a p$ss pot
4 purposes if you need a hot water bottle

Another fleece user here.

Someone did buy me a mini inflatable job about 8 years ago which I promptly shoved in the back of a cupboard. I found it the other day having a clear out, so I'm tempted to give it a go...

What do the fleece/towel users do when their fleece or towel is wet (my towel usually is after I've had a shower), or being worn because it's bloody freezing?

I'm all for dual-purpose, but that only works up to a point...

My fleece is never wet. If it'd been raining I'd have a waterproof jacket on!
