162ish miles in 14 hours

Strategy and everything else aside, that’s a hell of ride in current conditions, all factors considered.

Forgive me if I sound harsh but it's not when compared to Searvogel. At the turn of Spring he knocked out 254 miles in just under 13 hours IIRC. Steve has had a tailwind all day, granted it ain't warm and it ain't pan flat but it could be better.

That ride shows determination but it also shows empty legs. That tailwind should have blasted him down the road.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

I was under the impression that conditions were considerably shittier than that. That’s a tough day’s riding in my book. I know how it compares, in the record stakes, but there is already a thread for that.

Notwithstanding the distance is less than we'd all like it to be, it's still a hell of a ride - as it has been most days.

While it was blowing a hooley when I went to bed last night it was also binning down, and the weather was heading in the general direction of East Anglia.

I think it eased as it progressed east. We've had rain, but the strong winds have gone. Not a great day for riding, but certainly not too bad for the end of December.
