Set back seat post.

My new ISM saddle needs to be put back a bit further than I currently can with my Ritchie Comp 2 seat post (25mm setback).

Can anyone recommend a 27.2mm seat post with a 40mm setback, in 300mm ? Ideally something that can be affordably shipped to .nl.

I believe that’s the same post as the cheaper Planet X job.

The Nitto S84 goes back farther but is hardly cheap. Available in 300 mm. Has a much better clamping arrangement that allows precise adjustment of saddle tilt by tightening one bolt and loosening the other. I have a Nitto S83 and the ease of precise adjustment is incomparable to lesser designs.

You will have trouble finding anything more than 32mm setback.  Some have been made in the past but rarely come onto the second hand market.  The Nitto is available but weighs a tonne and is not cheap - if you're not worried about weight it is a lovely thing, very well made and I believe £80-90.

FSA do a carbon SB32 but at £160.  Tifosi do a 30mm at around £32 and is available from Wiggle.

You will have trouble finding anything more than 32mm setback.  Some have been made in the past but rarely come onto the second hand market.  The Nitto is available but weighs a tonne and is not cheap - if you're not worried about weight it is a lovely thing, very well made and I believe £80-90.

Have just ordered the Nitto. It's actually only 100g heavier than the seat post I have, if it means that this saddle fits better, and thus makes the bike more comfy, it's worth the 100g.

The question I now have is, with a Chromoly seat post, in a chromoly frame, do I need to do anything to stop the two welding together?

Just use a decent amount of grease when installing and you’ll be fine.

... and every few months, take the seat post apart, clean everything ans put some fresh grease.
