Oiling BBQ utensils
« on: 09 June, 2018, 05:47:58 pm »
I have several nice BBQ utensils (spatula, tongs etc) that are steel but have wooden grips. The grips have dried out. I was just about to reach for the boiled linseed oil like a would with a tool handle but then remembered that linseed oil is highly combustible. Mind you so are most oils. Any recommendations ?
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

AFAIK it's only combustible in the form of wet rags in a confined space.

The oil on the handle turns into a solid film after it's cured (reacts with oxygen).

Thanks both. Linseed oil it is and I'll leave the rag to dry on the line before disposing of it.
