You clearly need an MKS titanium racing bell.  I can't remember if they work in the rain but who cares, they is KEWL!

I've got a cheap bell.  It's loudish and works in all weather

The AirZound doesn't like it when it's cold or wet.

The bell on my mounain bike emits a pathetic, "plink," when it gets soggy. :'(
Luckily it has a Hope freehub. The noisiest freehub known to mankind. ;D

My Brompton's Dynamo stopped working tonight.  Complete lack of friction between rear tyre's sidewall and dynamo, because of the rain.

What happens? I've not noticed any problems with mine. I just pump it up a bit more when it's cold.

Surely my dear this confuses the public?

A whistle being the sound of a constable summoning assistance in the apprehension of a villian or a green party member?

Apart from the motorcycle escort wonks, I've not seen a copper with a whistle since... well, ever.

Mind you, this is Wild, Wild West London where even the grannies need a good hose down with Pava spray to come quietly.

My recent experience is that when you absolutely, positively have to make sure that A.N. Other Dozyped has looked where he's going and isn't about to do an Emily Davison on yo' ass, it's priceless.

Nah, when in Singapore Charlotte should go to the Duk Tours place (link) and get their tacky whistle.  It quacks (badly).

Whilst I have a couple of Fox40s, I prefer the Crane Bell "Suzu" - a large, lever strike brass bell.

Aside from being pleasantly decorative, it has a loud, piercing yet sonorous tone that's yet to be unheard by pedestrians.
