OK.  Who else might there be from The Waterboys?  And The Who, as it happens?

And Oasis?

Oh dear.  Er, I won't be online again until late tomorrow evening so here is a moderately stinky one.  If someone genuinely knows the answer to this one then please take over by default. Otherwise I will administer mercy killings tomorrow night.

The drummer went on to play with Tears for Fears. The guitarist formed a company organising cycling holidays. Which late 70s/early '80s band?

Well, I'll ask one as I never get any right, and Tony can ask one in tandem if he is right.

What links Paul McCartney and Peter Alliss.
It is simpler than it looks.

OK, I seemed to have brought this thread to a grinding halt.

The band was Interview, whose only album, Big Oceans, was actually rather good.

The drummer was Chris Hughes and the guitarist was Pete, whose second name has gone right out of my head but went on to found Bike Events and Bike Tours.  Thoroughly nice bloke and damned good six stringer.

Easy question now to reignite the thread:

There are several Beatles recordings that feature only Paul McCartney but there is only one on which John Lennon is the only performer. Name it.

Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

I'm So Tired?

Now I think about it, there's a backing vocal on that, so I reckon Martin's right.

Was Alliss born in Liverpool, perhaps the same hospital or neighbourhood as McCartney?
