Indeed and I'm not surprised at all.  The online published info is absolutely crap.   The work will be at Rugby.

As a founder member of the Rugby Rail Users Group our primary aim was to try and preserve services in the face of massive proposed cuts from Virgin as well as service reductions and increased failures from Silverlink when the direct services from London to Birmingham and back were replaced with services from each direction terminating and starting at Northampton.   One of the things we learned recently was that due to overrun of the Christmas / New Year 2007/08 works it was announced that Rugby will be closed at weekends.   When this happens even if Northampton is open the trains do not make as far as Long Buckby, rather terminating at Northampton or even Milton Keynes.

It is a real pain.   Especially when you cannot get the info.       

However,  have a look here.

The most important bit is the bit about no services between Coventry and Northampton all day.

Thanks for the info Polar bear. As a family of 5 we don't use the train very often at weekends as we find it too expensive. If it is OK with everyone we could still meet at Long Buckby, possibly in the town/village. From memory, I think that there is parking there in the square. I will check on Saturday when I pass through on an Audax.

Yes solos are very welcome, or you might be able to get a job for the day on the back of a tandem. Last year there were a few teams that had not ridden with each other before.

I rode most of the route on Saturday all be it in the opposite direction -

It looked to be free, but I was busy guiding a bunch of kids through the busy village at the time so I might be wrong. There were quite a few other places to park, but none large enough for lots of cars, so I suggest we park then meet in the village square.

I apologise for butting in on this thread just to be pedantic. Concerning the subject title: A tandem can have any number of riders in line on a bike or trike. Triplets, quads, quints, and so on are all tandems.

It's me again...yes. Oxford gives 'two or more'. Sorry — didn't want to start a quarrel (approx twenty years ago I was the Tandem Club's Technical Adviser; in the days before disk brakes or even V-brakes).
