Are brompton bolts all imperial?
« on: 02 March, 2017, 06:30:50 pm »
Trying to find some wheel nuts for the brompton from wheel and noticed that the bike is imperial.

Is that right?

Brompton wheel nuts are 13, 14 or 15mm. Most of their Allen bolts are metric.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

Sturmey Archer hubs have weird axle threads (I can't vouch for what Brompton normally use, as mine's a retrofit), but metric nuts.  I think that's it though.  My front hub is a Shimano dynamo with a perfectly normal metric hex skewer.

SA axles are imperial thread but the nuts are 15mm across flats.  Be careful; SRAM hubs are a slightly smaller thread, with metric diameter but imperial pitch   The nuts are NOT interchangeable with SA.  Brompton make SA and SRAM nuts a slightly different colour.
