Marathon Racers have something of a reputation for punctures, while being neither especially fast nor especially light.

Marathon Supreme might be worth considering.  Also (my tyre of choice) regular Marathons.

M+ is quite heavy - might be important on a folding bike.  OTOH, if removing the rear wheel's going to be annoying, it might be worth it.  The M+ on barakta's trike are a complete bastard to fit.  Swearing, blisters and nicked tubes are a standard feature.

Marathons are certainly cheaper. I ran some for about a year on a Dahon folder, they were great. Smooth rolling, no punctures and not too heavy.

Before I splurge on a set of Marathon Pluses for the Kansi can anyone offer anything else I should consider?

how do you find the original cst tyres? they have puncture protection belt, can be inflated to 100psi.. but how is the grip and durability? i couldn't find a single opinion about them online.

fwiw, i have kenda kwest or schwalbe kojak on my folder and neiter of these tyres is good enough to recommend.

I've used Marathons & Racers on my 20" Dahons, the Portland (700C) has Supremes on at the mo. I've had no bother with the Racers (admittedly only done about 300 on them this year, plus a few hundred with them on my old Jetstream before that), unlike Auntie Helen. Results clearly vary!

Marathons are brilliant value for money, considerably harder wearing than Racers or Supremes and not much slower. Supremes are excellent too though- pricey for sure, certainly in the UK (I got mine from bikediscount.de and saved about £10!!), but considerably lighter in larger sizes (a pound less weight in 700x28 than Marathons). Higher wear, but also higher speed. Either would be a great choice.
