What else is going on this weekend?!
« on: 16 May, 2008, 01:53:25 pm »
Gosh that BC thread is up to 27 pages and they haven't even started the ride yet!  :o

Is anyone riding anything else this weekend?

I'm getting up early on Sunday and riding down to Dorchester for the Dorset Downs 100, and then I shall be riding home again (unless I catch the train).

Happy cycling.
Let your mind unravel ... down that road you're travellin' ...

I shall be so worried by all of the Chappersons that I'll hardly be able to turn a pedal.

That of course is a complete fabrication as I am doing the FNRttC and I am sure I will have another pootle somewhere nice on Sunday.

If I'm up in time the carpet layers are putting a new carpet in.

If I'm not up in time they'll be working around me.   I may be changing my forum name to "Underlay" soon.

Wasn't Frodo Baggins' pseudonym something like that?

Tour of the Berwyns 200 from (near) Chester on Saturday with the big climb of the day being the Milltir Gerrig  (Bala- Llangynog) which I went over last week on the 4 Rivers 200.

Had wanted to do the Bryan Chapman ride but had a disastrous couple of months in March and April and not really fit enough for that distance.

Still planning to ride the Irish Mail 400 at the end of the month though.

Fettling, provided the weather is OK.  I now have a workstand so, unless I am unable to drag it the fifty or so yards between desk and motorcar, I really have run out of excuses!

I don't think I'll have time.

You're going out for a Chinese, aren't you?

Being North of Watford Gap, I'll be ambling around two 200's this weekend -:

Sat - Tour of the Berwyns
Sun - Hartside 200

I'm going to be on the Etape Caledonia, on Sunday. Runs West from Pitlochry along/around Lochs Tummel and Rannoch, scenic rather than hilly 80 mile course but on...closed roads and the descent from Braes of Foss last year was a blast, looking forward to it and the other 2000 riders.
Completely different from my usual Audax, highly competitive, you can see the Testosterone in the air at the start. If someone punctures, you jeer at them instead of stopping to help (well I do) so long sucker!
I have never raced and this is just the right side of fiercely competitive for me.

Starting to pack the contents of Volio Towers into boxes, pending transfer to Volio Farm.

And if I get time, rebuilding the wheels of the trike.

And Tuggo & Danu are calling by on Sunday on the way home from the BCM :o

                                               be lazy

Sunday      go to watch local Tandem Time Trial
                                             or
                                         go to Meriden
                                               or
                                           be lazy

Off to Wimbledon for work.  There till Tuesday.  Grrr.
But I have plotted the Crich Tramway 100 (Sat 31st) onto my GPS.  OMG that's hilly.
(Looks for huge excuse and cop-out.  Any ideas?)

I'm considering The Third Elstead 100, from the same start as the Stonehenge 200.

This would be my son's first "proper" 100K Audax; he managed the 100K IoW a couple of weeks ago with no problems so this could be good, depending upon the weather.

Tyneside Vagabonds 53rd annual Mountain Time Trial on the M47 course,  Belsay - Rothbury - Elsdon - Belsay,

There are 70 entries and a rich prize list (500 quid for the overall winner).  If there are sufficient non-starters, I fancy my chances for the 15 quid for 60th overall.  Unfortunately there is no prize for the slowest timed ascent of Billsmoor, but I could well achieve that!
