Annoying problem with GNOME
« on: 10 November, 2011, 10:26:39 am »
I have a linux laptop that I use for music, VOIP etc.  One the same desk I have my work laptop.

I have them both connected to a lovely 27" monitor via a Belkin FLIP USB.

The problem I have is that, if I reboot the Linux laptop, I have to raise the lid to be able to log in as I can't get a mirrored GDM session on the monitor (I get a display but is an extension of the GDM windows, and the login box is on the laptop screen).  Once logged in the screen is mirrored on the monitor so no problem.

It is minor, but very annoying, I have poked around, googled until I am sick of the GNOME pages and still I can't do it, any ideas?

F15 midway to 16 BTW.

Oh gosh, there is a way to do this cos the laptop in our kitchen runs that way, but I'll have to poke about to remember it. It is somewhere on the Gnome monitor settings though, that much I recall.

Try setting the monitor to be the primary display with xrandr?
