Electric or wet?  Electric is cheap to install, although not DIY for Part P reasons, and expensive to run.  If you're not there for long, it's probably your best option.

I've bought tiles for my bathroom job, and have only just realised how terribly cold they are going to be, even upstairs.

Having done quite a bit of soil pipe plumbing/re-using I'd be reasonably confident in re-using the T as is - there are lots of makes and even finding a replacement seal would be difficult - and fitting into the slot in the T even more of a challenge.

I'd work on the basis of your new pipe being long enough to go right up to the hilt in the T - AND make sure to put a nice smooth chamfer on the end of the new pipe to slide easily past the rubber seal - washing up liquid works pretty well if you don't have the silicone (or other  ;D) lube.     If there is any leakage there are quite a few good sealants for the T fitting.

Who's touring this season?  I need to get some money on them: so far, England's central contract batsmen have scored almost nothing (or less) and most of the bowlers haven't even turned their arms over.

Thumping win for Essex over weak opponents and a great one for Durham over Worcestershire with a day to spare.  Shame to see Brett D'Oliveira, Worcestershire capt and grandson of Basil, get a pair, including a first-baller.  Been even more of a shame to see him get runs, though!

YACF has influence!  Since I posted that, Root, Brook, Duckett and Bairstow have scored centuries.  Still no sign of Hartley, Anderson, Robinson or Wood, though.

OT Knowledge / Underfloor heating pros / cons
« Last post by Sergeant Pluck on Today at 12:32:54 pm »
Hi all

Our bathroom is due to get ripped out shortly. We’ve been wavering on a few choices regarding the floor. There has been a dalliance with Amtico / similar but we have now reverted to porcelain tiles. The question of underfloor heating arises.

While I could happily do without it, various thoughts come to mind:

- we aren’t going to get the chance to do it again
- it’s seen as a desirable feature when selling and we will not own this flat forever
- it is not that expensive to do, given the overall cost of the job
- nice to have even if only used occasionally. Partner is keen to have it available.

Advice and tales of UFH experiences appreciated. It’s a 2nd floor flat, in a small late 60s block, concrete floor. Any reason not to proceed, assuming flor heights allow? Guess my main concerns are - will it in any way compromise the stability of the tiles laid on it, and will UFH cause big issues if for example a tile needs removed / replaced?

First phrase from the Chelmsford wiki entry:- Chelmsford (/ˈtʃɛlmzfərd/) is a city[a] in the City of Chelmsford district.  The home of plain-speaking.  Dickens also spoke plainly about it: "the dullest and most stupid place on earth".  A surfeit of claret may have been responsible!  Certainly got a lovely cathedral.

Still in single figures °C  here. So heating deffo on.

Same. I optimistically switched the boiler on to summer mode a couple of weeks ago, but that didn't last!

Essex lose their first wicket - Cook for 25. He lasted 77 minutes, so I'd say that's a job well done for a night watchman. Khushi in now. He blasted a very rapid 50 v Lancs before getting out. I think a longer knock is called for today. 69-1.
