Batavus relaxx / Dawes lowrider

Hi. Does anyone else out there own a dawes lowrider or batavus relaxx? I'm having problems with the chain tensioner setup continually coming loose. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

I no longer have it, but I did have a Low Rider for a while and experienced the same problem.

My solution was set the factory tensioner to act as no more than a guide, (ie. with the chain run through it virtually straight) and to install a rear derailleur to provide tension. Obviously something like an Alfine or Rohloff chain tensioner would work as well, and be lighter, but given the nature of the beast* I doubt if weight is a concern!  ;D

* I use the term advisedly - ISTR that mine weighed >50lbs!  :o
Life is too important to be taken seriously.

No, weight isn't really an issue on these is it. Simplest solution I've come up with is to just leave the tensioner slack and put a bungee cord from it to one of the pump hooks. Not very elegant but effective.  Problem is that the jockey wheels are pretty small and draggy so I might have to make a new bracket from scratch.
