I found a lump hammer.  But then I found a man with a theodolite, so I decided to leave it alone.
I'm trying to think of the correlation between the two.

I think he'd been bashing markers into the mud with it.
Blimey.  Either a Civ Eng student, or the last man on earth to use a theodolite.  They all use differential GPS these days, IME.

Schlumpf is indeed the German for ‚smurf‘. They have also invented a verb, ‚to schlumpf‘ when you are using the gadget.

Does that mean you have to sing that "la la la-la la-lah" song and/or substitute all boabwords for 'smurf' when you're using one?

They seem to have missed out on a lot of the Smurf stuff (although I have a plastic lunchbox with smurfs on which I bought here), so the Germans don't seem so excited about smurfs, or indeed having a form of bicycle gearing named after them.

I can still remember the advert: "We are smurfs from National..."

We've just acquired rehomed a doubly adjustable, padded blue office swivel chair some kind person left out on our street.

It's a bit damp at the moment.

David needed a new chair.

The tanker has lost its bottom (wheel carrying  plate), ambulance intact, Crane intact, flatbed missing tyres, ditto every ready lorry, dust cart is dead, Oh, and what appears to be a cast musket ball.

Some little chaps pride and joy from the 1950's  / 60's, and there was remnants of a sort of lightweight orange box. I wonder if they were a sort of time capsule thing. Don't know weather to bring them hme and clean them up, or put them back, in a sealed tupperware box , with a note.

I'd put them in a box with a note, as you suggest, saying how you found them.  Imagine someone's reaction when they are found again, in say another 50 or 100 years?  I doubt that they are worth much, but the story behind them is far more valuable.

As I have grown older, more and more I realise that it's time, not money, that's important.  Your find can sustain that if you put them back.

I'd forgotten that bit. It's basically a movie of random feel-good moments, isn't it? But there's the cyclist in the treasure box, of course, and the man's recollection of the specific Tour stage when he finds the treasures in the phone box (I looked for that scene on Youtube but didn't find it).
