Recovery time preparation etc
« on: 21 October, 2016, 07:43:25 am »
Aspirations for next year....
Celtic Knot 1000 in Ireland is run over 3 days starting 23/06/2017 and the LEL starts 30 July. Is this enough recovery time between the two to be able to be ready for the LEL? or overambitious???????

Recovery rate depends on individuals but a month should be fine.

I wouldn't  be worried. 5 weeks is a long time and the celtic knot doesn't look particularly lumpy.

Irish brevets aren't easy but a month is enough time.

A month should be enough so long as there's not too much Real LifeTM interfering with feeding and resting.

Real LifeTM is beyond the remit of any advice given here...

http://www.celticknot1000.com

Entries opened yesterday. The 40 places filled by the afternoon. Reserve list 9 deep. Still worth getting your name down on the reserve list. A couple have already come off the reserve list and got an entry.

Insert standard moan about an event opening entry too early, resulting in a large number of over-enthusiastic folk then dropping off the entry list.

It's 7 weeks since I finished the Borders of Belgium 1000km, and I'm not really recovered.
However
a) BoB is lumpier than the Celtic Knot
b) I'd ridden quite a lot of Audax before BoB
c) I've ridden quite a lot of Audax since BoB
d) I'm a fat b'stard and I've done all of it with at least 20kg of excess baggage.

I'm not doing LEL but I'm aiming for the 24 which is a week earlier. I think it'll be fine. I'm on the list for the Knot.

That too. It was commit or miss out. The ACP calendar isn't out till January. I can see both sides- the organisers need funds to organise facilities.

Yes. I'm looking forward to catching up with friends made on WAWA this year. I can see 10 or so who were involved in WAWA either as riders or volunteers. Plus a couple more in the reserve list.  The climate and scenery suits my northern roots as well.
