Title: Photographers earning their spurs
Post by: Ham on 05 November, 2018, 01:13:01 pm
Maybe I'm missing something, but the "latest" gadget https://witharsenal.com/ photography device just appears to be a method to convert your DSLR into an auto P&S

Posted output https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/witharsenal/ seems to substantiate this. Probably doesn't deserve its own topic but I couldn't resist the title.

Shirley any DSLR already has a full-auto mode?  Not sure what this is adding other than focus stacking and remote control...

My reading is that it becomes a "clever" auto, like the Panasonic P&S auto attempting to detect the subject and adjusting the auto to match. the standard auto setting just makes sure that the exposure/focus is spot on. There are often "scene" modes for manual selection of auto, too. These would be effectively replicated with the Chelsea.

Seems it compares your scene with a database of other photos, then uses the settings from them. So your photos will look just the same as everyone else's.

Perfect for Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/insta_repeat/

Smells like someone with an interest in photography and an ability to write mobile apps was struggling for an idea for what to write an app for.
