Hands up those going on this ride.  7th September, start at Lymington, ferry across to the IOW. 100km up and down the island. Ferry back to Lymington. Another 100km round the New Forest.

I've sent off my entry form. My friend Keith has done so too.

I phoned him the other day. He was on a day off, out on his bike. He was up Beachy Head. On his fixer. I am going to suffer.

I sent off my entry form a few days ago and have booked my train tickets - which have already arrived. I wasn't going to do it, but an earlier thread making enquiries about the ride rekindled my interest in it (that and being on the Isle of Wight for family holiday a couple of weeks ago) - it is an excellent ride. I only hope the weather is as splendid this time as it was when I last rode it.

I'm not going to be able to make this one, even though it was one of my favourites last year  :(

My daughter's birthday parties (yes, plural) have been moved to that weekend rather than the one before, so I'd not be popular at home if I wasn't around.

I am doing this one and am trying to get my mate to give it a go as his first 200.

Does anyone know the route?

This is last year's.
Anticlockwise around both the island and the New Forest.

Bloke at work is about to go on his second set of paternity leave within 3 months.

Quite what this has to do with the New Forest On and Offshore 200 I don't know. :)

It's quite possible to have daughters born on the same day but 1 or more years apart.

It's my excuse for wimping out not being able to attend.
I have only one daughter (that I know of!), but she is having parties both days of that weekend - one for her friends and one for family. So I won't be joining you for pasties whilst waiting for the boat this year  :(

I think me, Chillmoister and Urban_Biker planned to do something that weekend.

We may have opted for a camping weekend to the IoW.  They are both away at the moment so I guess you may or may not see us.  To be confirmed next week.

My chum has decided against this as he reckons he's not up to it.  :'(

I'll still be doing it though.

One thing about this ride is that being a figure of eight, there is a natural abandon point back at Lymington - so your chum could do the island, and then decide if he wants to do the New Forest (as long as he doesn't hold you up too much on the island).

The whole ride is worth doing, I'm not happy that I can't be there  :(

He'd rather romp around it than limp around it and I can't say I blame him.

Mind you, judging by my performance this year, I'll be count myself lucky not to DNF!

This will be my first 200 of the year, so I'm in the same boat. Fortunately, there are some good pubs en route to provide "moral support".

Maybe we can all limp around this together.  Awaiting replies from Chillmoister and Urbanbiker.  If we end up camping Saturday night I'm sure we can arrange a Rodney Voo at a Beer dispensary on the Island.

Me and Urban_Biker are checking that we can still join the 200km event.

I'm assuming that nothing prevents us from buying ferry tickets on the day if it's too late for the organiser to do it.

Any idea?

Foot passengers (which includes cyclists) can just turn up and get on the next ferry at any time.

However, it's possible the organiser might have at least one spare ferry ticket anyway, because it's looking increasingly unlikely that I'll be able to do this ride. It was a bit rash of me to enter without checking my wife's plans for that weekend... :(

As I have ballsed up and forgotten to send off my entry by the cut off date, I am in the same ferry boat.

I have mailed John as it is not unknown for him to allow EOTL.

I'll let you know.

Have just plotted trhe route on Memory Map - this looks like a really lovely day out on the bike! With the added option of a potential bailout at halfway if I feel  bit knacked. Hope the weather holds up.

So, Tiger's easy to spot on account of lying down. Hummers - I'll just follow the trail of innuendo.  Me, I'm on a Magenta Mercian. I plan to go round with my friend Keith.

True enough, but they said that about yesterday (Sunday) and I managed a 200 (Hailsham Dover) without a soaking ... Fingers crossed. eh?  ;D
