I rode the Tregaron Dragon a few years ago and would love to do it again plus the other rides but unfortunately that weekend now clashes with another appointment that I am committed to every year - change the date and I'll be there!
Iawn, cont? It's a 67.4" by the way.

I first rode the Tregaron Dragon from the festival maybe three years ago.

Brilliant but took me nearly 12 hours...

I staggered into the finish (didn't know the word arrivee back then)

Proceeded to apologise to Ross for keeping him waiting so long, and he paused, smiled, and said, "You're first back!"

OMG... I thought.....
I’ve decided I’m not old. I’m 25 .....plus shipping and handling.

Hi Bikey Mikey,

I remember that evening well.
You were well ahead of the others that day and I'm pretty sure that you did a lot better than 12 hours.
However, 'Ben T' is still the fastest rider around the Tregaron Dragon, to date.

When are you going to ride  the route again?
I may not be running the Gladestry rides in the future so don't delay your return.

With just 31 days to go before the Gladestry Weekend is scheduled, I have only 15 confirmed rider bookings! :'(
Its not looking good.

Roll up! Roll up!

I'm still buying and recommending your excellent sunglasses with the tiny reading panes so I don't need my reading glasses as well  !!!

We now have 28 rider bookings!
Another 12 still needed to guarantee the event goes ahead.

Ross, hope you get to the magic number.
My entry for the dragon done.
Not ridden it before, but on my list as I love cycling in this area.
Now to blow the cob webs off the bike as it's been a while.

Or....

I might just have entered it this year... ;D

Scares the living bejesus out of me this ride but hey ho.  I think the ultegra 12-30 cassette is coming out for this one - 29*30 lowest gear will be needed.

Is my maths awry or have we got 16.72 hours to complete the TG?  (209/12.5 = 16.72)

This is good if so for my sake at least.

Of course  :-)  - I was previously rather concerned about doing this within the time limit of what I thought would be 14 hours - but I think I can definitely do it in that timeframe which is a nice confidence boost.. I thought the minimum speed for a BR 200 was 14.3 kph though.  Hmm

The only thing I remember about Painscastle (having routed through on the CS2A a couple of months ago) was thinking thank gawd that damn climb is over.  ;D   Yeah that pub sounds a good shout.

don't worry the worst climb near painscastle is the one to the south on the road from glasbury, it's probably that one you remember, the TD doesn't go over that.
That does feature on Ross's other ride called "The Rhosgoch", which basically started from Rhosgoch a few miles down the road, and otherwise was exactly the same as the E&Y but with the addition of that b*****d hill at the end.
this one

arguably the hardest climb is not the devils staircase but the one that starts here but once you get to the top the view is immense.

No it definitely does go over the climb I'm talking about on the way to Painscastle - I've checked my route for the CS2B (not 2A as I said earlier) and the one on the TG is the same.

So there's a worse one?  :jurek:   I am suitably gratified that we are not doing that then  ;D

Yes I have photos of me stood on the top of the Epynt from the same ride (CS2B) on Facebook where I was trying to look happy at the views but I wasn't very and really it shows on my face ;)

If you achieve an average speed of 14.3 or better it's a BR award. If slower then it's BP for you! Regards, Ross Jeal

Maybe the one after crossing the A470, if so it's steep but not that long.

Anyhow it'll be fine you'll enjoy it.

Yeah, I was thinking along those lines, thanks for the clarification.  RRTY demands BR award - tough but should be doable as long as I don't faff.

Thanks to the interest and even the concern of several audax riders, the Gladestry Audax Weekend is attracting more cyclists this year than last.

I was a little down in the mouth just three weeks ago but now I'm optimistic that my rides will be available for a couple of years yet!
Perhaps I'll spread the word more widely next year, as suggested by Ben, and ensure that Gladestry doesn't in future clash with the Kidderminster Killer.

Thanks for your support, see you all soon.

Ross Jeal
