Commuting kids

I've noticed quite a few kids riding to school recently, definitely more than a year ago. A couple caught my eye this morning.

The first was a young lad - I'd guess about 10. Coming towards me riding his BMX about half way between two villages a couple of miles apart, riding sensibly, happened to be wearing a well fitting high vis waistcoat (the reason for mentioning this will become obvious), wearing a rucksack, and was full of smiles as I yelled "morning" to him. Fantastic.

The next one was a couple of miles further on - a lady riding behind her young daughter (I'd guess about 6 years old). The daughter was on a BMX too, and wearing high vis (got to be seen to be safe!), but it looked like her dad's full length jacket, and it was so long that it was down on the rear wheel and risking fouling the chain ::-) You do wonder what goes through the parents' minds.

Gotta keep the kiddies safe!

Just grateful the parents let them ride.
Getting there...
