I'd say that using a velomobile, or indeed anything vaguely resembling a practical mode of transport, would not be in the spirit of the thing!

The points are awarded for the design, appearance, the little "performance" at the start and then (almost as an afterthought) the time taken on the course

Motor manufacturers including Lotus and Bentley spent large sums of money on their vehicles, so great was their consternation when Bob Dixon turned up with a front-faired Windcheetah with a hastily cobbled-together two-wheeled rear end and beat them all ;D
