I saw Eric Bibb and his band at the Anvil in Basingstoke last night.

Being with a band rather than solo leant the show more to the blues and rock end of his range than the folk end his solo shows lean to. All in all a jolly good night.

BC Camplight at Rough Trade East in that London. Album launch in-store show, so a short-ish set, just Brian and his piano, but well worth the trip up to That London. Played a handful of tracks off the new album plus some old favourites.

Seeing him again in a couple of weeks at the tiny Ramsgate Music Hall, which will likewise be an intimate show with just him and his piano, but also have tickets to see him in November at Shepherd's Bush Empire with full band, which should be awesome.

Last Rotation of Earth is already a strong contender for album of the year in my book.

CBSO Saturday night. A night of movie music. The Great Escape being a favourite, as was the 20th Century Fox intro crescendo right at the start. I haven't seen the CBSO in such splendour in ages, with the full contingent in attendance, including the celeste for Harry Potter.
Haggerty F, Haggerty R, Tomkins, Noble, Carrick, Robson, Crapper, Dewhurst, Macintyre, Treadmore, Davitt.

Show of Hands + Kirsty Merryn, and Michael Wood (off those history programmes on the telly).
A concert about songs of protest from the Black Death to the Jarrow Marches.

Was rather good. Shame there was no merch from Michael as we want at least one of his recent books.

I don't get out to see other bands much, but on Tuesday I got invited to see Dominic Miller and his band. It was jolly good.

There's no vibrations, but wait.

Excellent band yesterday,at the Jenny Lind in Hastings,   Dr Savage and the Hot Sauce.
Sort of rythym and blues, Guitar, Organ, drums, double bass, and two sax. Epic sound, and he was a real showman, sort of kid creole outfit, belting out Ray Charles, epic.

TC & The Groove Family on Friday. High energy hip hop/latin/funk jazz.  Sounded like a dnb rave by the end. Also Plumm. Jazz singer with a beautiful voice. Last night was Colectiva, an all female Latin band. Absolutely brilliant. Yazmin Lacey was on after. Lasted 2 songs. Not my thing.

Tonight is Laura Misch, then an Indian multi instrumentalist whose name eludes me.

Springsteen at murrayfield last night.   Superb night out.    His voice isn’t what it was, and was fading a bit towards the end but still a fantastic night.   One of the best feel good gigs I’ve been to.

and last night, the Steve Harley Acoustic Band

The audience loved him. Was a nice relaxed and good fun gig. I chatted to them before they went on and I told him I had last seen him play at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in the mid 1970's  ;D

Toby Lee again, this time at the new-to-me venue The Forge in Camden.  A sight less of a trek than Putney.  He has a new guitar – a shiny red Les Paul with go-faster stripes – and a new drummer.  There may be pictures when I can summon up the energy to persuade them off my phone and onto something useful, which I now have at https://www.flickr.com/photos/mr_larrington/albums/72177720309042866/with/52973940449/  Edited highlights:

Been to a few, and also had a selection of my photos blown up to 40 x 60 and now on display at the venue  :)

I'll put some others up soon, but that was last night.

Sigur Ros al fresco at Wasing Park near Aldermaston. Only one song from the most recent album, thank dog. Nicely crunchy end to the set with Kveikur and Popsong

on the Badminton estate, which was interesting. It was billed as being 'Bristol', which it wasn't. I would say they probably had 1/3 to 1/2 fewer people than they were set up for.

Does it count if you were singing in it?

If so, Saturday's concert by the Southend Bach Choir, culminating in G & S's "trial by Jury". I had some very complimentary feedback for my performance as the Counsel to the Plaintiff.
