Network printing from virtual machine
« on: 18 April, 2008, 08:12:18 pm »
I've just set up VirtualBox (yay :)) on my Ubuntu box and installed winxp SP2 as the guest OS. Good so far .

I want to print from this VM to a printer attached to a windoze machine. I found some instructions here but this method didn't work. I'm using NAT as the network option.

Has anyone done this successfully? Any help appreciated :).

Any particular reason you are using NAT? I just let all my VM's get ip addresses from the local DHCP server (or in the case of public ones have them set statically). This way you can do everything as normal.

Now sorted ;D. I was using the wrong name for the printer in the URL (windows share name not description given in Ubuntu). Better instructions found here
