HP Spirit - Carradice Saddlebag as Luggage
« on: 20 July, 2010, 02:52:03 pm »
I know HP Velo do a custom bag for the Spirit (at a significant price!!!) & I have the lowrider pannier rack (in Hungary!), but I was wondering if a saddlebag could be used as a viable alternative using the bar at the top of the Spirit's seat. The only misgivings I have are that the support loops may be a bit close together and could cause the bag to slide around, but there are ways around that by putting loops around the bar to prevent sliding.

Has anyone else considered/done this?

Can't speak for the Spirit, but I've had a Carradice saddlebag on the back of my Kettwiesel and it worked reasonably well despite it being canted at an awkward angle (such that everything was in danger of falling out when you opened the lid).

Toestraps and bungees are always useful in securing things like this, even on a "normal" bike.

I have used a pair of Camper Longflaps on the Street Machine and they worked fine.
