Cat onna hot tin tandem
« on: 30 November, 2008, 04:19:09 pm »
Liz and I took Liz's sister Cat for a ride in Richmond Park this morning.  She's not been on a bike since she was about sixteen.

Sensibly, she decided that discretion was the better part of not having a clipless moment and opted to stoke the Barnes/Norman tandem.

I was rather impressed - twenty miles in the rain and she still had a smile on her face...

Next stop commuting?

Huzzah for Cat!  I see the family resemblance.

Smiling in the rain - that's the sort of loon cycling turns you into.  :D

Getting there...

Well, Cat's just gone home and is still thinking about coming out with us again, which is good.  She took to stoking rather well!

I tried to draft the tandem down the hills, but the rain meant I was a bit cautious and they left me for dead.  ;D

Had to try to catch them up Bastard Hill instead and nearly lost a lung.  ;D

Now I know Cat enjoyed herself, I'll give advance notice next time and invite you lot along - if that doesn't put her off nothing will.  ;)

Looks like you showed her a good time :)
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

...the Barnes/Norman tandem...

I think you could go into production with a name like that - I'd buy one!

I am very jealous of you. Looks like a good time was had by all.

I have no hope of getting my sister onto a bike; she swears she has, in actual fact, forgotten to ride a bike and thinks I am a loon.  ::-)

Just get her to meet your lovely cycling friends, and in no time at all, she'll be off on a 600... :)

You'd have your work cut out with this one, lovely as you all are.

I got a right telling off* today for having four bikes between Rob and I, she'd think you folk were very odd indeed. And as for when I show up in cycling gear...'what are you wearing?!'

*Not actually sure what it's got to do with her since it's my flat and I'll do what I like damnit  :demon:

Cat's reaction to the SEEKRIT BUNKER was "OMG, this could be a cycle shop!"

;D

Although the lycra was a fashion faux pas, she did manage to keep her mascara intact round Richmond Park in the rain.  I'm very impressed; it would have been in rivulets down my chin in no time.

....And as for when I show up in cycling gear...'what are you wearing?!'...

I turned up at a public consultation into a road scheme for cyclists on Saturday.

Lady looks at me, "I see you're a cyclist?"
"Nah, I just dress this way for fun".

"No, I swam." ::-)

I went on a course at Watersfield recently. All the other Service Personell drove so I had to put up with all the usual comments as much as I tried to look a bit less bikey than normal. Mind you, one of my bosses wished he "had my heart". Either he is unfit or coming on to me........
