Cycle on Parliament - England stylee ?

What happened in Scotland to prompt the Pedal on Parliament event ?

Why isn't there anything similar happening in Westminster ?

To answer the first question: there was a protest ride in London, and some bloggers in Scotland decided London was too far to go, so decided to organise their own.
I can probably dig up some more history in the form of blogs and forum posts, if you are interested?

wisob,  thanks for that. It was a moment of idle curiosity rather than a detailed research project. If you do happen upon any info then please do post a link to it here, but don't go out of your way. Cheers.

Well, here's a blog post about the first year's PoP from one of the organisers:
https://cityexile.wordpress.com/2012/04/29/paddle-on-parliament/
going backwards in her blog from that will give you some history.

I'll see what else I can find when I need a break from doing what I'm supposed to be doing...

A very early thread on organising the first one, from the City Cycling Edinburgh forum;
http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=5573
note the quote "... we're aiming (ambitious this one...) for about 500 riders ..."

To answer the second question, they'll probably be arrested.
I am often asked, what does YOAV stand for? It stands for Yoav On A Velo

Just one more; the blog post that can probably claim to have started the whole thing:

Thank you again. I'm impressed that the event is still going in Scotland, and hugely disappointed that it isn't in England.
