Tragic.

I was only watching him on TV this week on Tour of the Alps.

No doubt there will be a mark of respect prior to the LBL this weekend.

Tragedy can be just around the corner for anyone. You just don't expect it for someone from the pro-peleton.

^^^ To motor traffic we're all just obstructions.

It's the wife and two kids who need a deal of sympathy.  Heart in her mouth when he was racing and now the worst has arrived, and she and they are bereft.

Tragic news indeed. I've enjoyed watching a couple of his videos that he filmed when training with his parrot, Frankie. Frankie is naturally in Astana jersey colours and sat on his shoulder and sometimes broke into flight, flying alongside Michele.

Nice touch by Astana to not replace him in the Giro squad, they will only start with 8 riders and no leader
