Places you'd love to cycle
« on: 26 January, 2018, 09:56:55 am »
I follow on Instagram, a chap who photographs old houses and buildings in 4-5 states of northern North America. Yesterday, I asked if he could pinpoint a particular historic house for me, which he did. Great! But, in locating the house (using Google's Yellow Man of course!) it's also shown me just what an utterly stunning area of countywide it sits in. I can just imagine cycling there.

Do you have anywhere in the world to show the rest of us, where YOU'D like to cycle? A Google map ref would be great. Ta!
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

There are many places in the world where I'd love to cycle. However, here is one I not only fancy but also intend to visit this year:

Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

I find it somewhat disconcerting that they have a Womble observatory there. Have they emigrated?

I'm hoping to make it to Islay this year, for the Ride of the Falling Rain in August, a bit of a west of Scotland jaunt and visit a distillery or two

I imagine from that height Wimbledon is visible on a clear day.

I'm always excited by cycling in new places that I've never cycled in before - wherever they are.

That has led me to a rather nice website - it's a bit like if Dr Hutch lived in the Hebrides. Lots of reading material there for the cold evenings

Same - I'm planning rides around Lincolnshire and the Humber Bridge for that reason. Not very ambitious but still enjoyable!

Been watching a few videos on Youtube of The GCN Show (Global Cycling Network), and just watched this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKpqe1BDeCU (the Colle de Finistere in Italy). And it's a "Wow" ride.

Popped onto Google maps, and randomly dropped Mr. Yellow Man down on to a section, which is shown here:

Another "Wow!" moment. What a view.

I'd love to get (cycling) fit again and go to the alps. Somewhere just like the last link that Rigger's posted.
