Glue for peeling tyre tread on "open tubular"

The tread on my Vittoria Open Corsa has been peeling at a few places. I've been using patch rubber solution but it only holds for a while and eventually starts peeling again. I did use a clamp one time and that seems to make it stay stuck a bit longer but it has still worked loose.

I found this USA instructions:

As usual, lots of USA products/brands are not available in the UK and vice versa. I do have some Uhu contact adhesive, would that be equivalent and would it work?

Anyhow, I've decided to go ahead and use it as I need to commute tomorrow on the tyre. The main issue is whether the glue will stay flexible after it's dried.

The glue holds for several hours of riding but the treads starts peeling again. Maybe I'm using the wrong gluing technique, or I need to leave it longer after gluing before use.

I might try taking the tyre off the wheel and glue and clamp the tyre between flat blocks of wood, I suppose ideally you'd want to clamp using a tyre-shaped clamping block.

Here's how they do it at the factory, at 2min50sec:

It only mentions a "special glue". And they don't seem to use much clamping pressure.

I think Uhu contact adhesive is not suitable as it dries fairly hard.

Also I would guess at the factory, the contact areas for gluing is clean and gives a better result than on a used tyre even if I can get the same glue.

Did you slightly rough up the affected area of the tyre with sandpaper before applying the rubber glue? This can help with adhesion when patching a tyre, I assume it would also help with re-attaching rubber tread
Old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway

I have used the same adhesive I used ( well used to use when I was a tracking) to replace shellac in this more technical world. It is a specialist 3M adhesive used to attach interior lining to car interiors I think.- Scotch Grip 847 I think. It isn’t always easily available to the public ( H&S questionnaire etc).

Having said that, at the risk of offending those of a more careful budgetary stance, I wouldn’t ride anything with worse than a small nick that can be superglued as I’ve an aversion to tarmac. :-)

I didn't roughen the rubber tread, that might be a good idea as the tried UHU glue seems to come off quite easily.

I have access to some Evo-stik non drip contact adhesive which I will try. I've seem a dried glue (on something that's been glued) that's really rubbery but I don't know what it is.

Scotch Grip 847 seems to be quite hard to get hold and expensive as well.
