Simple back up solution for windows - USB disk and backup app
« on: 25 February, 2011, 03:48:58 pm »
Hi all,

Looking for a backup process and hardware for a non-literate user, ideally plug a USB disk into the laptop and set a backup program running.

I'm happy to advise for Mac, but this isn't!
It is simpler than it looks.

ntbackup is built into Windows.  Doesn't get simpler than that.  You can back up the whole machine, My Docs, or specific files, and write the .bak to a removable disk no problem.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Cobian backup, it's free and backs up as original files or compressed, and can (IIRC) be scripted.
