BN - friend is ill enough to be put on the kidney transplant list
BN - said friend is also diabetic, has been from birth (I think)
GN - friend has had double transplant - kidney and pancreas
MGN - friend is no longer diabetic and came home from hospital yesterday

I hope said friend can remain non-diabetic, pancreas transplants are not always successful

Good news - my parcel is being delivered to my office today by TNT

Bad news - I wasn't expecting it until Thursday or Friday & was going to bring my folding trolley in, as it's 15Kg unpacked.   Taxi home tonight then.

The front brake on my new commuter has been fixed, yay! (it was a faulty caliper, who would have guessed? Me actually, but at least it is sorted. This involved transporting said bike to the LBS in my car, although I rode it back)

Now then, guess whose lights are still sitting in the boot of whose car?  Boo.

Oh well, I have an Evans voucher, I can use, just need to get the same lights and they will slip into the bracket. Yay!

Evans in The Cut are out of Cateye lights. Boo.

Good news - the driver had been given my home address rather than my office address, but said he'd try & get it down there, otherwise they'd deliver it tomorrow.

Bad news - no further contact so I went home.  When I checked their website it shows our doorman signed for it at 15:30.

Aren't Nespresso capsules officially the work of Stan , being non recyclable and all that?

Indeed they are.
Being willing to imbibe almost anything labeled 'coffee', I never jumped onto that bandwagon.

Sainsbury's Gold Roast instant does for me.

I have eschewed Pringle cos packaging.

My old bathroom mat is worn to rags, so I decided to pop into S&M to see if they had anything suitable.

GN: They still had one that matched the bright blue shade of the new towels I bought last year
BN: £19:95  :jurek:
GN: It went though the till at £1:86 , and the guy gave me a big wink & said I'd got the bargain of the day  :-D     (He reckoned they'd not changed the label properly after the last sale.)

BN - My dishwasher started leaking last week
BN - Replacing the rubber seals hasn't fixed it
GN - I've found the problem - it's the lower spray arm that's splitting.
GN - Duct tape has fixed it for now :)

BN:  Mrs B is having an 'At Home' with her team this evening.  She's been prepping unwrapping and laying out little tasty stuffs for an hour but I am not allowed to touch them.

MBN:  I'm to be on my best behaviour and dressed suitably ("No.  Not those trousers.  Not that jumper  either") for meeting and greeting.

GN:  I must then bugger off to the pub and not come back before 8.

BN:  With the dog.

VBN:  Under no circumstances may I get even a little drunk.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Hurrumph.  I've just seen the amount of prosecco she's laid in  :o (I'm still here on bottle opening duties and being genial duties)
As far as I am aware, only one of them is staying the night.  This could be amusing.

I have eschewed Pringle cos packaging.

Nooo...   Pringles are worth laying the Earth to waste.
My only concern, should I have the last Pringle from the last tube, sitting on the bare earth of a sun blasted wasteland, is where the next tube may be found.

I phoned to arrange assistance for our forthcoming trip to Christchurch.

BN: Automated answering, Pressed 1
BN: Repeated muzak/automated announcement cycle
BN: Human answering phone did not have English as first language ad I had to give train departure details twice. Spoke from pre-written script so sounded like machine, with heavy foreign accent.
BN: He then transferred my call to South Western Railway. More waiting, more muzak
GN: Phone answered by efficient person to whom I didn't need to repeat myself.
MGN: Received confirmation email PDQ.

GN: At check in this morning my bike bag weighed in at 31.8Kg, the limit is 32.  Pure blind luck.
MGN: Bike arrived in Italy on the same flight as me.
MMGN: Barely a scuff on the bag.
BN: Rear brake rotor bent.  I'm going to say packing fail on my part, some squishing of the bag is inevitable.  I thought a bent rotor was a possibility but I didn't see anything I could do about it bar remove them which I elected not to do.
GN: It appears no other damage.

BN: I am too skint to afford a new sofa
BN: I have missed out on two really nice ones on Guntree
GN: My mate's wealthy brother is giving me two of his (very expensive) sofas that will be surplus to requirements in a few weeks.

Indeed, but so far so good. She's finding it quite strange not having to inject at certain times and is enjoying that side of things immensely.

GN: I found my cross country ski waxes. Every thing from green to red ultra special.
BN: I also found the klister. It had leaked. Everything was rather sticky.
GN: I has ski waxes so might actually dig out the skis this winter if we have snow.

GN: My Atlas des Cols des Alpes (vol 3) has turned up this morning, yay!!!!
Slightly BN: The condition was slightly worse than described by the Amazon.fr market seller
GN: So they added in Vol 2 for free!
BN: But I have to work today..... boooo
GN: Nobody has turned up to a weekly "clinic" call I hold (unusually), yayy! ...hang "do not disturb" sign over my status...

They are fascinating volumes.

ETA: BN: Bastard Germans. Turning up late and spoiling my morning.

Vicariously:

GN:  Our friend moved to his new home last Wednesday.
BN:  The ancient boiler, unused for six months is toast!
GN:  A new Worcester Bosch was fitted today.
BN:  It's busted right out of the box.
MBN:  They cannot get the bits before Monday at the earliest.!

I'm not sure it's wise to have a boiler with that much mojo.

GN: I got out of a day’s frock shopping for mother of the bride outfits with Dr Beardy (Mrs)
BN: it cost me a new tyre
MBN: I’m still going to have to accompany Dr Beardy (Mrs) on said frock shopping expedition
GN: it won’t be for at least a couple of weeks because she’s working next Saturday.
