Another NAS Question (Power Management Schedule)
« on: 04 October, 2011, 05:47:28 am »
I'm wondering about using the power schedule on my second NAS so that it's only switched on for a few hours each morning whilst backups take place, instead of 24/7.

Is this likely to affect the reliability of the hard disks in any significant way? My gut feel says no.

Thanks

No.

They are mechanically shut down after not being used for a while anyway, and the electronics won't care any more than the NAS electronics does.
